Classical Concerts in Poole

Experience Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra live on October 21st

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is a British orchestra renowned for its versatile repertoire, encompassing standard orchestral works from the Baroque period through to contemporary compositions. Historically, the orchestra has developed a strong association with English music, particularly that of Elgar, Vaughan Williams and Holst, while also performing widely across all classical periods. The BSO frequently commissions new works and engages in educational outreach programmes.

Lighthouse, Poole, is a multi-arts centre located on the Dorset coastline. Opened in 1990, it serves as a significant cultural hub for the region. Originally conceived as a replacement for Poole’s previous theatre and concert hall facilities, the building incorporates a theatre space, cinema screens and a concert hall – the main venue for this performance. The building's design aimed to be architecturally striking and accessible, reflecting its intention to offer a broad range of artistic experiences to the local community and visitors. It underwent significant refurbishment in 2023. The venue hosts both touring productions and locally created work across various disciplines including dance, drama, film and music.
