Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is scheduled to perform at Bristol Beacon on April 29, 2027. The BSO, founded in 1893, is recognised for its versatile repertoire spanning the core classical and romantic periods, alongside a commitment to contemporary works and film music. Historically, the orchestra has cultivated a reputation for innovative programming and strong community engagement throughout the South of England.

Bristol Beacon underwent a significant redevelopment project completed in 2023. The building’s history traces back to 1876 with the construction of the Bristol Corn Exchange, designed by James Foster. Over time it became known as the Colston Hall, named after Edward Colston, a figure whose legacy became increasingly contested leading to the name change in 2020 following public consultation. The renovation aimed to improve accessibility, acoustics and overall audience experience while acknowledging and addressing its complex past.

The venue now comprises three distinct spaces: Halla (the main concert hall), Beacon Hall and the intimate Recital Room. It serves as a key cultural hub for Bristol, hosting a diverse range of performances including orchestral concerts, rock and pop gigs, and spoken word events.
