BLOOD is a musical project centered around the songwriting and performance of Mariam Wallentin and Page Hamilton, known for its blend of dark folk, experimental rock, and atmospheric soundscapes. Their music often incorporates elements of traditional Nordic folk music with modern instrumentation and lyrical themes exploring introspection and nature. The project emerged from a collaborative residency at the Bell Labs in 2018, resulting in their self-titled debut album in 2019. They have since released further albums continuing to explore this unique sonic territory.
Dakota Jazz Club & Restaurant, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has been a prominent venue for live music since its establishment in 1981. Originally founded by Jim Lee, it quickly gained recognition for hosting both established jazz artists and emerging talents. Over the decades, Dakota has expanded its musical scope beyond strictly jazz to include blues, funk, world music, and singer-songwriters while maintaining a focus on acoustic-centric performances and intimate settings. The venue’s architecture features warm wood tones and tiered seating designed to optimize sightlines for all patrons. It remains a significant cultural landmark within the Twin Cities music scene and has hosted numerous nationally and internationally recognized performers.
