The Berlin Philharmonic will perform at the Großes Festspielhaus in Salzburg, Austria on August 23, 2026. The Großes Festspielhaus is the principal venue of the Salzburg Festival and was constructed between 1956 and 1960, designed by Clemens Holzmeister. It was built on the foundations of the former Salzburg Stadttheater which burned down in 1958. The hall’s acoustics are highly regarded, specifically designed for operatic and orchestral performances. Its architecture blends modern elements with references to Salzburg’s Baroque heritage. The hall seats approximately 2,180 people and is known for its horseshoe-shaped auditorium offering excellent sightlines. It has become synonymous with high-caliber musical events and remains a central cultural landmark within Salzburg.
