Experience Baltimore Symphony Orchestra live on January 9th
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) will perform at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on January 9, 2027. The BSO is recognized for its versatile repertoire spanning classical masterworks, contemporary compositions, and popular orchestral works. Historically rooted in the late 19th-century tradition of European Romanticism, the orchestra has evolved to embrace a broad range of musical styles, frequently commissioning new pieces and showcasing diverse voices within the orchestral landscape. It is currently led by Music Director Jonathon Heyward.
Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, opened in 1982, serves as the primary performance venue for the BSO. Designed by architect Pietro Belluschi, it is known for its acoustically refined auditorium specifically engineered for orchestral music. The hall replaced the Lyric Theatre as the BSO’s main base and was named in honor of Joseph Meyerhoff and his family, significant philanthropists who contributed substantially to its construction. The building itself is part of the Cultural Arts Center of Baltimore, a complex designed to foster artistic endeavors within the city. Its acoustics are frequently praised by musicians and critics alike, making it a prominent concert venue in the United States.
