Experience Antonio Vivaldi live on August 31st
Antonio Vivaldi, an influential Italian Baroque composer (1678-1741), is renowned for his instrumental concertos, particularly those for violin. His musical style is characterized by bright, clear textures, energetic rhythms, and a distinctive use of string instruments. Vivaldi frequently employed a three-movement structure – fast-slow-fast – and explored programmatic elements, attempting to musically depict scenes or ideas, most famously in *The Four Seasons*. He composed over 500 concertos, solidifying the concerto form as a significant genre.
The concert featuring Vivaldi’s works is scheduled to take place at Capilla Gótica in Mexico City on August 31st, 2026. Capilla Gótica, constructed between 1908 and 1912, is a neo-Gothic chapel located within the Panteón de San Ángel, a historic cemetery. Designed by architect José Ramón Ibarrola, it serves as the final resting place for numerous prominent Mexican figures including President Porfirio Díaz and his wife Carmelita Sherry. The chapel's architecture reflects influences from European Gothic styles with pointed arches, ribbed vaults and stained glass windows creating a unique atmosphere.
