Ensemble Modern, a pioneering contemporary music group founded in 1980 in Frankfurt, Germany, will perform at Sala Nezahualcoyotl in Mexico City on September 30, 2026. The ensemble is renowned for its commitment to performing and commissioning new music, often incorporating electronics, improvisation, and theatrical elements into its presentations. Their repertoire spans a wide range of composers, frequently focusing on works that push the boundaries of traditional instrumentation and musical form. They are particularly associated with the aesthetics of spectral music and post-minimalism.

Sala Nezahualcoyotl, located within the Centro Cultural Universitario of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), is a significant concert hall celebrated for its acoustics and architectural design. Completed in 1993, it was designed by architect Enrique Norten. The hall’s name honors Nezahualcoyotl, a philosopher-king and poet-ruler of Texcoco during the pre-Columbian era. Its interior features a distinctive shell-like structure intended to enhance sound diffusion and clarity.
