Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) was a prolific Italian Baroque composer, renowned for his instrumental concertos, especially those for violin. His musical style is characterized by bright, clear textures, energetic rhythms, and melodic invention. Vivaldi frequently employed a ritornello form – a recurring instrumental passage interspersed with contrasting solo sections – and explored dynamic contrasts and virtuosic display. He composed over 500 concertos, alongside operas, sacred music, and chamber works, significantly influencing the development of the concerto form.

The concert on August 12th, 2026 will be held at Capilla Gótica in Mexico City. This venue is situated within the Panteón de Dolores cemetery, one of Mexico City’s oldest and most historically significant burial grounds. Originally constructed in 1878 as a non-denominational chapel within the cemetery grounds, the Capilla Gótica (“Gothic Chapel”) is noted for its distinctive neo-Gothic architectural style featuring pointed arches and stained glass windows. It has become a recognized cultural space hosting artistic performances due to its unique acoustics and atmospheric setting.
