Anna Laura Quinn will perform at Specs' Twelve Adler Museum Cafe in San Francisco on June 14, 2026. Quinn is a singer-songwriter whose music blends elements of jazz, folk, and contemporary classical composition, often featuring intricate vocal arrangements and lyrical storytelling. Her work frequently explores themes of memory, place, and personal narrative.
Specs' Twelve Adler Museum Cafe occupies a historically significant location within the City Lights Bookstore complex in North Beach. Originally established in 1951 by Specs Lehman, it functioned as a beatnik-era hangout and performance space closely associated with the literary movement. It served as an informal gathering place for writers like Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, and Lawrence Ferlinghetti. The cafe was known for its late-night hours and relaxed atmosphere fostering artistic discussion and spontaneous performances.
Following a period of closure after Lehman’s death in 2001, the cafe was revived in 2013 as part of the larger City Lights complex, retaining its original character while operating as a full-service cafe and continuing to host musical acts and poetry readings. The space maintains a deliberately vintage aesthetic reflecting its Beat Generation origins.
