Classical Concerts in Stockholm

Experience Amus Kerstin Andersson live on April 2nd

Amus Kerstin Andersson will perform at Konserthuset Stockholm on April 2nd, 2027. Andersson is a Swedish composer and performer known for her unique blend of vocal music, often described as contemporary folk or experimental vocal improvisation. Her work frequently incorporates elements of traditional Swedish vocal techniques – *kulning* being particularly prominent – alongside extended vocal techniques and electronic processing, creating a soundscape that is both ancient and strikingly modern. Recurring themes in her compositions explore the relationship between voice, landscape, and cultural heritage.

Konserthuset Stockholm opened in 1926 and is considered one of Sweden’s premier concert venues, renowned for its exceptional acoustics. Designed by architect Ivar Tengbom, it was built with the intention of providing a dedicated space for orchestral music, addressing a need identified by Hugo Alfvén and other prominent Swedish musicians. The building’s main hall features a horseshoe-shaped design inspired by the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria. It serves as the home venue for the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and hosts a wide range of classical music performances, as well as occasional appearances by artists from other genres.
