Altan is scheduled to perform at the Hobart Art Theater in Hobart, Indiana on September 15, 2026. The group is internationally recognized as one of Ireland’s most important contemporary Irish traditional music groups. Their sound blends traditional arrangements of Irish tunes with modern instrumentation and vocal harmonies, featuring Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh’s distinctive fiddle playing and singing, alongside Dermot Byrne’s bouzouki and guitar work. They frequently incorporate elements of sean-nós singing, a traditional unaccompanied Irish vocal style.

The Hobart Art Theater is a historic venue originally constructed in 1928 as a single-screen movie palace. It operated as a cinema for several decades before falling into disuse. In 2017, following extensive renovations led by the non-profit organization Friends of the Hobart Art Theater, it reopened as a performing arts center. The restored theater now hosts a variety of events including live music performances, theatrical productions, film screenings, and community gatherings. The building retains many of its original architectural features including ornate plasterwork and art deco detailing while incorporating modern amenities for performers and audiences. It currently has a seating capacity of approximately 300.
