Joe Hisaishi’s musical compositions are widely recognized for their emotive melodies and orchestral arrangements, frequently blending elements of classical, minimalist, and pop music. He is best known for his long-standing collaborative work with Studio Ghibli, composing scores for nearly all of Hayao Miyazaki’s animated films, including *Spirited Away*, *Princess Mononoke*, and *My Neighbor Totoro*. Beyond Ghibli, Hisaishi has a substantial body of solo orchestral works and scores for live-action films.

The concert on May 1st, 2027 will take place at the Symphonie Center in Chicago, Illinois. Originally opened in 1904 as the Auditorium Theatre, it underwent extensive renovations and reopened as the Orchestra Hall in 1966. Further remodeling in the late 1990s led to its current name, Symphonie Center, reflecting its expanded role as a multi-purpose performing arts venue.
