Alkaline Trio will be performing at O2 City Hall, Newcastle upon Tyne on July 5th, 2026. The band is known for their distinctive brand of melodic hardcore, often categorized as emo or punk rock, incorporating dark lyrical themes, complex song structures and prominent vocal harmonies. Formed in Chicago in 1998, Alkaline Trio have released eight studio albums to date and maintain a dedicated international fanbase.

O2 City Hall Newcastle is a significant venue with a capacity of approximately 2,450. Originally constructed in 1910 as the Newcastle City Hall, it served primarily as a municipal concert hall and civic space. Throughout its history, it has hosted a diverse range of performers including classical orchestras, popular musicians and theatrical productions.

In 2007, the venue was rebranded as O2 City Hall following sponsorship by the telecommunications company. It retains many of its original architectural features, including ornate detailing and a grand auditorium. The building is recognised for its acoustics and continues to be a key location for live music events in the North East of England. It underwent refurbishment work completed in late 2023 to improve accessibility and facilities.
