Acoustic Alchemy will be performing at The Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia on October 28, 2026. The British instrumental duo is known for their distinctive blend of smooth jazz, acoustic guitar work, and influences from both jazz fusion and Latin rhythms. Formed in the early 1980s, Acoustic Alchemy features guitarist Greg Carmichael and formerly featured steelpan player Jeff Lloyd (who passed away in 2016); the current lineup continues to build upon their established sound. Their compositions are largely original, characterized by intricate arrangements and melodic improvisation.

The Birchmere, located in Alexandria, has a long history as a prominent music venue. Originally opening as a hi-fi store in 1957 by Bob and Eleanor Waters, it transitioned into a dedicated performance space in the mid-1960s. Over the decades, it has hosted a diverse array of nationally and internationally recognized artists across genres including folk, country, bluegrass, rock and pop. The venue is noted for its intimate setting—with a capacity around 500—and its reputation for providing excellent acoustics. It’s become a significant fixture within the Washington D.C.
