Experience Monsieur Periné live on September 18th
Monsieur Periné is a Colombian band known for blending Latin American rhythms – including cumbia, vallenato, and porro – with jazz influences and French chanson aesthetics. Formed in Bogotá in 2015, the group’s sound is characterized by its sophisticated arrangements, playful instrumentation featuring instruments like the accordion and trumpet, and the distinctive vocals of Catalina García. They have gained international recognition for their vibrant live performances and critically acclaimed albums.
The Lincoln Theatre in Washington, D.C., holds a significant place in the city’s cultural history. Originally opened in 1922 as a silent film palace and vaudeville house, it quickly became a prominent venue for entertainment catering to a segregated audience. During the mid-20th century, it was a key stop on the Chitlin’ Circuit, hosting numerous legendary African American performers including Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday when they were often excluded from other venues.
Following a period of decline and closure, the theatre underwent extensive renovations completed in 2012. It now operates as a performing arts center presenting a diverse range of music, dance, theatre, and film events while maintaining its historic architectural features.
