Tyondai Braxton is an American composer and musician, initially known as a founding member of the critically acclaimed post-rock band Battles (2002-2010). Departing from Battles, Braxton embarked on a solo career characterized by complex, algorithmically-influenced compositions blending electronic music, contemporary classical, and jazz improvisation.

His discography includes landmark albums like *Central Station* (2009), a live looping performance piece utilizing only a laptop, and *Birdsongs* (2011), conceptually inspired by the death of his mother and structured around nine movements representing stages of grief. *For the Passersby* (2015) further explored intricate electronic textures and rhythmic displacement.

Braxton’s work frequently incorporates custom software and hardware for live performance, pushing the boundaries of real-time composition. He's received commissions from institutions like the National Endowment for the Arts and has collaborated with artists across diverse fields including visual arts and dance.
