June McDoom is a highly respected, yet often under-recognized, British vocalist and songwriter whose career spans decades, beginning with significant contributions to the burgeoning UK jazz-funk scene of the 1970s. Initially gaining prominence as a session singer, notably with Light of the World – featuring on their seminal track “Time” (1979) – her powerful and soulful voice became instantly recognizable.

McDoom subsequently collaborated extensively with prominent artists including D-Train, Level 42, and Central Line, lending her vocals to numerous dancefloor classics. Her solo work, though less commercially widespread, showcases a distinctive blend of soul, jazz, and disco influences. She released the album *After Hours* in 1986 and continued performing and recording throughout the following decades.

Known for her exceptional vocal range and emotive delivery, McDoom’s style is characterized by a rich timbre and improvisational flair.
