Kuhmo Church (Kuhmon kirkko) is a wooden church completed in 1934, designed by architect Ilmari Wirkkala. It stands as a significant example of Finnish architectural style influenced by the Nordic Classicism movement. The church replaced an earlier church that was destroyed by fire in 1933. Its interior features artwork by renowned Finnish artists including paintings by Väinö Blomstedt and sculptures by Olli Tykkyläinen. The building’s acoustics are considered particularly well-suited for chamber music and solo instrumental performances due to its wooden construction and relatively intimate size.
