Arttu Kataja will perform at Kuhmo Church in Kuhmo, Finland on July 20, 2026. Kuhmo Church, completed in 1904, is a wooden church designed in the National Romantic style by architect Ilmari Launis. It’s considered a significant example of Finnish wooden church architecture, showcasing the stylistic characteristics of the era – incorporating motifs inspired by Finnish folklore and landscape. The church replaced an older, smaller church that had become inadequate for the growing population of Kuhmo. Its interior is noted for its light-filled space and distinctive acoustic properties which are well suited to choral and instrumental performances. The church serves as a central venue for the annual Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, hosting numerous concerts each summer. The building’s construction utilized local wood sourced from the surrounding Kainuu region.
