Tonkünstler-Orchester, Lower Austria’s resident orchestra, is scheduled to perform at the Musikverein in Vienna on December 18, 2026. The orchestra has a broad repertoire encompassing works from the Classical, Romantic, and 20th/21st-century periods, with a particular emphasis on Austrian composers like Bruckner and Mahler. Known for its flexibility and collaborative spirit, Tonkünstler frequently partners with internationally renowned soloists.

The Musikverein, home to the Vienna Philharmonic, holds significant historical and acoustic importance. Completed in 1870 and designed by Hans Hansen, it is celebrated globally for its exceptional acoustics – particularly within the Golden Hall (Goldener Saal). This hall's design intentionally eschewed the then-fashionable shoebox shape in favour of a more rectangular form with walls constructed from nearly 48,000 bricks. This unique construction contributes to its warm and resonant sound.
