Experience Tinariwen live on November 2nd
Tinariwen will perform at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao on November 2, 2027. The group is a Grammy-nominated collective of Tuareg musicians originating from the Sahara Desert region of Mali. Their music blends traditional Tuareg instrumentation – often featuring electric guitars alongside *tehardent* (a traditional lute) and percussion – with elements of rock, blues, and psychedelic sounds. Lyrics are typically sung in Tamasheq and address themes of nomadic life, political struggles for independence in the Azawad region, and cultural identity. Formed in the late 1970s amidst political exile, Tinariwen gained international recognition in the early 2000s.
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, designed by Frank Gehry, opened in 1997 and quickly became a landmark building and a catalyst for the revitalization of Bilbao. Its titanium-clad exterior is renowned for its sculptural form, appearing to change with the light. The museum primarily focuses on modern and contemporary art, housing a permanent collection alongside rotating exhibitions. It’s considered one of the most important museums in Spain and globally recognized for its architectural significance as much as its artistic holdings.
