Experience Tinariwen live on November 1st
Tinariwen is scheduled to perform at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao on November 1st, 2027. The group originates from the Sahara Desert region of Mali, and their music blends traditional Tuareg musical styles with elements of rock, blues, and psychedelic sounds. Often referred to as “desert blues,” their compositions frequently feature hypnotic guitar riffs, call-and-response vocals in Tamasheq (a Tuareg language), and rhythms reflecting their nomadic heritage. Formed in the late 1970s amidst political unrest, Tinariwen’s music initially served as a voice for Tuareg rebellion and cultural preservation.
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, designed by Frank Gehry, opened in 1997 and rapidly became a landmark of contemporary architecture and a significant driver of Bilbao’s urban regeneration. Its titanium-clad exterior and deconstructivist design are internationally recognized. The museum primarily focuses on modern and contemporary art, showcasing collections from the mid-20th century to the present day. Beyond its permanent collection, the Guggenheim Bilbao hosts temporary exhibitions and events, utilizing both its interior gallery spaces and its exterior areas for performances.
