Experience The Glenn Miller Orchestra live on November 3rd
The Glenn Miller Orchestra is scheduled to perform at the Bijou Theatre in Knoxville, Tennessee on November 3, 2026. The orchestra is renowned for its performances of classic big band jazz from the 1930s and 40s, a style characterized by tight arrangements, prominent brass sections, and a danceable swing rhythm. Originally founded by Glenn Miller in 1938, the orchestra achieved immense popularity during World War II with hits like “In the Mood,” “Moonlight Serenade,” and “Pennsylvania 6-5000.” Following Miller’s disappearance in 1944, the orchestra was reorganized and has continued to tour internationally under various leaderships, maintaining the original instrumentation and repertoire.
The Bijou Theatre itself holds a significant place in Knoxville’s cultural history. Opened in 1872 as a grand opera house, it has undergone several renovations and repurcussions throughout its existence. Initially hosting traveling theatrical productions and vaudeville acts, it transitioned to primarily showing motion pictures in the early 20th century.
