The Glenn Miller Orchestra is scheduled to perform at the Bijou Theatre in Knoxville, Tennessee on November 3, 2026. The orchestra continues the musical legacy of Glenn Miller, renowned for his distinctive big band sound popular during the Swing Era of the 1930s and 40s. Their repertoire largely consists of instrumental pieces characterized by a smooth, danceable rhythm, prominent brass sections, and melodic arrangements – including signature tunes like “In the Mood,” “Moonlight Serenade,” and “Pennsylvania 6-5000.” Following Miller’s disappearance in 1944, the orchestra was reformed under the direction of Tex Beneke and has continued touring with various leaders since.

The Bijou Theatre itself holds significant historical and cultural importance for Knoxville. Originally opened in 1878 as a grand opera house, it underwent several renovations and repurcussions over its history including functioning as a movie palace. Facing demolition in the 1970s, a community effort led to its restoration and reopening in 1979 as a performing arts center. Today, it operates as a multi-purpose venue hosting concerts, theatrical productions, lectures, and community events.
