The Dream Syndicate will perform at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, Illinois on October 3, 2026. The Dream Syndicate emerged from the Los Angeles music scene of the early 1980s and are considered pioneers of the neo-psychedelic movement. Their music blends elements of garage rock, psychedelic rock, folk, and post-punk, often characterized by extended instrumental passages, atmospheric textures, and vocalist Steve Wynn’s distinctive lyrical style. The band initially disbanded in 1988 but reformed in 2017 and has been actively touring and releasing new material since.

The Old Town School of Folk Music was founded in 1957 as a community music school rooted in the folk revival era. Originally operating out of a Chicago apartment, it quickly grew to become a nationally recognized institution dedicated to the teaching and preservation of traditional music forms – including blues, country, jazz, and world music – alongside contemporary folk styles.
