Experience The Count Basie Orchestra live on July 3rd

The Count Basie Orchestra will perform at Warwick Arts Centre, Coventry, on July 3rd, 2026. The orchestra carries forward the legacy of William “Count” Basie, renowned for a signature big band sound characterized by its driving rhythm section, call-and-response arrangements, and emphasis on improvisation. Their musical style is deeply rooted in swing jazz, but also incorporates elements of blues, gospel, and popular song. Founded in 1935 by Count Basie, the orchestra achieved widespread popularity during the Swing Era and continued to evolve through subsequent decades, maintaining a consistent presence in jazz performance and education.

Warwick Arts Centre is a multi-complex venue located on the University of Warwick campus. Opened in 1974, it functions as both a university arts facility and a public arts centre. It hosts a diverse program encompassing theatre, music, dance, cinema, visual arts and comedy. The centre comprises several spaces including the main house theatre – a proscenium arch venue – and the smaller Studio theatre alongside gallery spaces and a cinema. It is recognised as one of the largest arts centres in the UK outside of London and regularly welcomes nationally and internationally acclaimed performers.
