Tenebrae, a British vocal consort renowned for its interpretations of Renaissance and early Baroque sacred music, will perform at Kloster Eberbach in Eltville am Rhein, Germany on July 16, 2026. The ensemble is celebrated for its precise intonation, expressive phrasing, and commitment to historically informed performance practice. Their repertoire frequently includes works by composers such as William Byrd, Tomás Luis de Victoria, and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, often focusing on polyphonic textures and devotional themes.

Kloster Eberbach is a former Cistercian monastery founded in 1136. Situated in the Rheingau wine region, it flourished for centuries as a significant agricultural and economic center. The monastery’s architecture reflects its history, showcasing Romanesque and Gothic styles alongside Baroque additions following periods of reconstruction. Notably, the Klosterkirche (monastery church) possesses exceptional acoustics that have made it a popular venue for musical performances.
