Teenage Fanclub, the Scottish alternative rock band formed in 1989, will perform at Sala Capitol in Santiago de Compostela, Spain on October 9th, 2026. The band is known for its melodic guitar pop, often drawing comparisons to The Byrds and Big Star, and incorporating elements of power pop, jangle-pop and indie rock throughout their discography. They gained prominence as part of the early 1990s “shoegaze” scene despite resisting the label, and are recognized for their consistent output of critically acclaimed albums and influential songwriting.
Sala Capitol is a historical venue in Santiago de Compostela originally constructed as a cinema in 1929. Designed by architect Manuel López Campos, it initially operated as a prominent movie theatre showcasing both national and international films. Following a period of decline and closure in the late 20th century, the building underwent significant renovation and reopened in 2008 as a multi-purpose performance space. Today, it hosts a diverse range of events including concerts, theatre productions, dance performances and conferences. The venue retains much of its original Art Deco architectural detailing, contributing to its cultural significance within the city.
