Jazz Concerts in Brooklyn
Experience Sunny Jain live on July 5th
Sunny Jain will be performing at Barbès in Brooklyn, New York on July 5, 2026. Jain is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer whose music blends South Asian classical and folk traditions – particularly Hindustani and Punjabi influences – with elements of jazz, electronica, and hip-hop. He frequently incorporates dhol playing, a double-headed drum traditionally used in Punjabi folk music, alongside electronic beats and diverse instrumentation. His work often explores themes of identity, migration, and cultural hybridity. He has released several albums as a solo artist and collaborated with artists across genres.
Barbès is a long-standing performance venue and restaurant located in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn. Established in 1982 by Lamine Touré and his wife, it quickly became known for showcasing world music, particularly from West Africa but expanding to include a broad range of global sounds. The space is deliberately intimate, fostering close connections between performers and audiences. It’s known for its eclectic programming which includes music, poetry readings, and dance performances. Barbès has served as an important platform for both emerging and established artists specializing in non-Western musical traditions within New York City's cultural landscape.
