Sphinx Virtuosi, the self-led professional chamber orchestra comprised of top Black and Latinx classical musicians, will perform at the Perelman Theater in Philadelphia on October 23, 2026. The ensemble is recognized for its dynamic performances of repertoire spanning classical standards to contemporary works, often commissioning pieces that highlight diverse voices and perspectives within the orchestral landscape. Their programming frequently blends virtuosity with a commitment to cultural representation and artistic innovation.

The Perelman Theater, located within the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, opened in 1992. Designed by architect Rafael Viñoly, it is known for its flexible design accommodating a variety of performance types including opera, dance, theater and musical concerts. The theater’s acoustics are specifically engineered to support both amplified and unamplified sound. It serves as a key venue for several resident companies including the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society and Opera Philadelphia, alongside hosting national and international touring productions. The space seats approximately 1,100 patrons and features adaptable seating configurations to suit different artistic needs. It underwent renovations in 2023 to enhance accessibility and patron experience.
