Special EFX, a pioneering electronic music act prominent during the 1980s and 90s, will be performing at Lou Lou’S Jungle Room in San Diego on September 30, 2026. The duo—Mark Bell and Richard D. James (also known as Aphex Twin)—are recognized for their influential work in early techno, electro, and breakbeat hardcore. Their sound is characterized by complex rhythmic programming, innovative sampling techniques, and a generally experimental approach to electronic music production. They were particularly known for tracks like "Theme from S'Express" and their contributions to the Warp Records label.

Lou Lou’S Jungle Room is a relatively intimate venue located in North Park, San Diego. Established in 2018, it has quickly become known for its focus on underground electronic music and alternative performances. The space deliberately cultivates a DIY aesthetic with a strong emphasis on sound system quality and an immersive atmosphere; often featuring vibrant lighting and visual projections. It regularly hosts both local and internationally touring artists spanning genres like house, techno, drum & bass, and experimental electronic music.
