Their music is generally categorized as post-hardcore, often incorporating elements of alternative rock and progressive rock. The band gained prominence in the early 2000s with albums like *Austere* (2002) and *Porcelain* (2004), known for their dynamic shifts between quiet, melodic passages and intense, emotionally driven outbursts. Following a period of inactivity, Sparta reformed and released *Island of the Saints* in 2020 and *Orchestral Attempts* in 2022.
