The Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) will perform at the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay on January 29, 2027. The SSO is recognized as Singapore’s flagship orchestra and performs a broad repertoire encompassing orchestral standards from the Baroque period through to contemporary compositions. While historically rooted in the European classical tradition, the orchestra actively commissions and performs works by Singaporean and Asian composers, integrating regional musical influences into its programming. The SSO frequently collaborates with internationally renowned soloists and conductors.

The Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, commonly known as the Esplanade, opened in October 2002. Its design, inspired by the durian fruit and the orchid, has become an iconic landmark of the Singapore skyline. The complex features a Concert Hall seating approximately 1,800 patrons, a Theatre accommodating around 1,600, a smaller recital studio, and an outdoor theatre space. Beyond performances, it hosts various community events and serves as a significant cultural hub for Singapore. The building was conceived as part of Singapore’s broader efforts to develop a vibrant arts scene and enhance its international profile as a cultural destination.
