Nobuyuki Tsujii, a Japanese pianist and composer, will perform at the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay in Singapore on May 7, 2027. Tsujii is renowned for his deeply expressive and technically brilliant performances, often characterized by a romantic and poetic sensibility. His repertoire spans a wide range of composers, from classical masters like Chopin and Rachmaninoff to contemporary works, and he frequently incorporates his own compositions into his concerts. Notably, Tsujii was born with congenital visual impairment and performs entirely from memory. He gained international recognition after winning the gold medal at the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
The Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, commonly known as the Esplanade, opened in October 2002. It is a performing arts centre situated on the waterfront of Marina Bay. Designed by Michael Wilford and James Stirling Edward Jones, its distinctive dome-shaped roof is inspired by the durian fruit and has become an iconic feature of the Singapore skyline. The complex houses a Concert Hall seating approximately 1,600 people and a Theatre accommodating around 850 audience members.
