Sheku Kanneh-Mason, a British cellist of Sierra Leonean and Welsh heritage, will perform at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on December 19, 2026. Kanneh-Mason is recognized for his expressive and virtuosic playing, encompassing a repertoire that spans classical standards alongside contemporary works and arrangements that explore diverse musical traditions, including collaborations incorporating jazz and popular music influences. He gained international prominence after winning the BBC Young Musician competition in 2016 and performing at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018.
The Concertgebouw, opened in 1888, is renowned globally for its exceptional acoustics and is consistently ranked among the world’s finest concert halls. Designed by Pierre Cuypers, it is celebrated for its shoebox shape which contributes significantly to its natural reverberation and clarity of sound.
