The building's most famous feature is the Golden Hall (Goldener Saal), renowned worldwide for its exceptional acoustics which are attributed to its wooden interior construction and specific architectural dimensions. The hall wasn’t initially intended primarily for concerts; it was originally built as a venue for the Vienna Men’s Singing Academy. Over time however, it became synonymous with orchestral music through the New Year’s Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic which is broadcast internationally.
