Samara Joy is a contemporary jazz vocalist recognized for her interpretations of classic jazz standards and original compositions. Her style draws heavily from the traditions of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Billie Holiday, showcasing a rich, velvety tone and skillful scat singing. She gained prominence after winning the 2023 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album for *Linger Awhile*, and has been lauded for bringing renewed attention to traditional jazz forms.

Maymont is a 100-acre Victorian estate in Richmond, Virginia, established in 1925 by James H. Dooley and his wife Sallie May Dooley. Originally their private residence, the property was gifted to the city upon their deaths with the stipulation it remain open to the public as a park. The estate features a Gilded Age mansion, formal gardens inspired by European designs – including an Italian Garden and a Japanese Garden – as well as a nature center and wildlife exhibits including American bison and black bears. The grounds are historically significant for their architectural design reflecting late 19th and early 20th century aesthetics, and their role in Richmond’s cultural landscape. Concerts are occasionally held on the lawn areas of Maymont, utilizing its scenic backdrop.
