Samara Joy is a contemporary jazz vocalist garnering recognition for her interpretations of classic jazz standards and explorations within the Great American Songbook. Her style is rooted in traditional jazz vocal techniques, reminiscent of Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, but infused with a modern sensibility. She frequently performs both with ensembles and solo, showcasing a rich tone and improvisational skill. Joy won the 2023 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album for *Linger Awhile*.

The concert is scheduled to take place at Maymont, a 100-acre Victorian estate located in Richmond, Virginia. Originally the home of James and Sallie Dooley, Maymont was completed in 1905 and reflects their Gilded Age lifestyle and interests. James Dooley was a successful lawyer and Sallie Dooley was a dedicated philanthropist with passions for nature, art, and architecture.

Upon Sallie’s death in 1924, the estate was gifted to the city of Richmond as a public park. Today, Maymont encompasses a Victorian House museum, a carriage collection, Italian Garden, Japanese Garden, Nature Center with wildlife exhibits, and expansive grounds utilized for various events.
