Birdland Jazz Club holds a significant place in jazz history. Originally opening in 1949, the club quickly became a legendary venue hosting performances by jazz icons like Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie, and Ella Fitzgerald. It earned the nickname “the jazz corner of the world.” The original location closed in 1965 but was revived in 1986 in a new location on West 44th Street in Manhattan where it continues to operate as a premier jazz performance space.
