Experience Roger Sayer live on December 17th
Roger Sayer will perform at St John’s Smith Square, London, on December 17th, 2026. Sayer is a British composer and harpsichordist known for his work reviving and performing the music of 18th-century French harpsichordists, particularly François Couperin and Jean-Philippe Rameau. His performances are characterized by meticulous research into historical performance practice and a focus on recreating the sound world of the Baroque period. He also composes original works influenced by this aesthetic.
St John’s Smith Square is a former church, consecrated in 1728, that has become a renowned concert hall. Designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor, it is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics and architectural significance as a prime example of English Baroque architecture. Originally built as one of twelve new churches commissioned by the Commission for Fifty New Churches in London following the Great Fire of 1666, it ceased being a parish church in 1994.
Since then, it has operated primarily as a concert venue hosting a diverse range of classical music performances, including orchestral concerts, chamber music recitals, choral performances and solo instrumental events.
