Rio Kosta is a Dutch-Montenegrin artist creating music broadly categorized as Balkan beat, incorporating elements of dance, funk, and electronic music with traditional Balkan instrumentation and melodies. His sound frequently features driving rhythms, brass sections, and samples evocative of Yugoslavian music from the 70s and 80s. He has released music through labels including Marble and Digger’s Delight, gaining recognition within European club and festival circuits.

BIRD, located in Rotterdam’s Katendrecht district, is a music venue known for its intimate atmosphere and focus on showcasing diverse, forward-thinking musical talent. Originally a bird shop – hence the name – the space was transformed into a performance area in 2016. It quickly became a fixture in Rotterdam’s independent music scene, prioritizing genres like jazz, hip-hop, global sounds, and experimental electronic music.
