Righteous Rooster is a Chicago-based ensemble performing a blend of jazz, blues, and swing music, often incorporating elements of New Orleans traditional jazz and incorporating original compositions alongside classic standards. The group is known for its energetic live performances and instrumental prowess, featuring a core lineup typically including horns, rhythm section, and vocals.

The Green Mill Cocktail Lounge, located in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago, has a significant history as a jazz club. Originally opened as a pop music venue in 1927, it transitioned to a jazz focus during the 1940s and became particularly renowned for hosting performances by prominent figures during the Chicago jazz scene’s heyday. Famously, it was owned and operated by Al Capone's sister-in-law during Prohibition, though historical accounts suggest Capone himself was not directly involved in its operation.

The venue retains much of its original Art Deco interior design and maintains an intimate atmosphere conducive to live music. It continues to operate as both a cocktail lounge and performance space, showcasing a variety of jazz acts. Righteous Rooster is scheduled to perform at the Green Mill on July 25th, 2026.
