Jazz Concerts in Chicago

Experience John Scofield live on October 18th

John Scofield will perform at Thalia Hall in Chicago, Illinois on October 18, 2026. Scofield is a highly influential jazz guitarist known for his distinctive improvisational style, blending elements of jazz fusion, post-bop, and funk. His work often features complex harmonic ideas, bluesy phrasing, and a signature use of effects. Throughout a career spanning several decades, he has collaborated with numerous prominent musicians including Miles Davis, Joe Henderson, and Pat Metheny.

Thalia Hall itself holds a significant place in Chicago’s cultural history. Originally constructed in 1892 by German immigrants as a social and performance venue for the surrounding Pilsen neighborhood, it served as a multi-purpose space hosting everything from theatrical productions and political rallies to sporting events and dances. After periods of decline and disuse throughout the mid-20th century, Thalia Hall underwent extensive restoration completed in 2018. The restored hall now functions as a vibrant performance venue showcasing a diverse range of musical acts and events while retaining many of its original architectural details including ornate plasterwork and a grand ballroom aesthetic. It is recognized for its excellent acoustics and intimate atmosphere.
