Righteous Rooster is a Chicago-based ensemble performing a distinctive blend of jazz, blues, and swing music, often incorporating elements of New Orleans second line traditions. The Green Mill Cocktail Lounge, located in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago, has a long and storied history. Originally opened in 1933 following the repeal of Prohibition, it quickly became a prominent jazz club during the swing era. Famously operated for many years by Al Capone’s former bodyguard “Big Jim” Colosimo (though predating Capone’s full control), the venue retains much of its original Art Deco interior.

Throughout its existence, the Green Mill has hosted numerous legendary jazz musicians and continues to be a vital space for live jazz performance today. Its intimate setting and dimly lit atmosphere contribute to its enduring appeal as a classic Chicago establishment.
