Righteous Rooster is a Chicago-based ensemble performing a blend of jazz, blues, and swing music, often incorporating elements of New Orleans traditional jazz and ragtime. Their performances are characterized by energetic instrumentation featuring horns, a driving rhythm section, and vocal harmonies. The group has been actively performing in the Chicago area since 2018, developing a local following through appearances at various clubs and festivals.

The Green Mill Cocktail Lounge, located in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago, has a significant history rooted in the city’s jazz scene. Originally opened as a speakeasy in 1933 by Al Capone’s former bodyguard, “Handsome Dan” Segelbaum, it quickly became a popular haunt for musicians and patrons alike. During the 1940s and 50s, it regularly hosted legendary jazz artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Charlie Parker.

Today, the Green Mill continues to operate as a live music venue dedicated primarily to jazz performance. Its interior maintains much of its original Art Deco aesthetic, contributing to its intimate and historically resonant atmosphere. The space is known for its dimly lit ambiance and relatively small stage setting which fosters close interaction between performers and audience members.
