Richard Galliano will perform at the Prinzregententheater in Munich, Germany on April 15, 2027. Galliano is a French clarinetist and composer renowned for his “New Musette” style, a contemporary evolution of the traditional French musette waltz. His music blends jazz improvisation with elements of classical music, tango, and world music influences, often featuring a distinctive lyrical and melancholic quality. The Prinzregententheater opened in 1903, commissioned by Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria as a gift to the city of Munich. Designed by Max Littmann, it originally served as an alternative stage to the Bavarian State Opera, showcasing operettas, Singspiele (German opera with spoken dialogue), and ballet. Throughout its history, the theatre has undergone several renovations while retaining its original Art Nouveau architectural features. It experienced significant damage during World War II but was meticulously reconstructed to its former glory. Today, it continues to host a diverse program including opera, operetta, musicals, concerts and ballet performances; remaining a significant cultural landmark within Munich’s artistic landscape.
