Richard Andersson, a Swedish composer and multi-instrumentalist, will perform at Harpa Concert Hall’s Norðurljós hall in Reykjavik, Iceland on July 22, 2026. Andersson’s music is generally categorized as neoclassical dark ambient, often incorporating elements of cinematic soundscapes, progressive rock, and electronic music. He is known for instrumental compositions frequently featuring layered synthesizers, orchestral arrangements, and evocative melodies. His work draws inspiration from both classical composers and modern film scoring techniques.
Harpa Concert Hall opened in 2011 and quickly became a landmark in Reykjavik. Designed by Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with Batteríið Architects, its glass facade is inspired by the basalt columns found throughout Iceland’s natural landscape. Norðurljós, meaning “Northern Lights” in Icelandic, is Harpa’s smaller concert hall. It's specifically designed for chamber music and smaller orchestral performances due to its acoustics and intimate setting; it seats approximately 500 people. The hall's design incorporates materials intended to enhance sound quality and create a visually striking environment.
