The Gretchen C. Valade Jazz Center opened in 2022 as part of the Detroit Center for Innovation at Wayne State University. The center is dedicated to the preservation and advancement of jazz music through performance, education, and research. Designed by renowned architect Gunnar Birkerts, the venue features state-of-the-art acoustics and a flexible performance space intended to accommodate a range of ensemble sizes.
