The Historic Plaza Theatre originally opened in 1936 as a movie palace designed by architect Charles Marion. It quickly became a central entertainment venue for Palm Springs residents and visitors, hosting film premieres and live performances. Throughout its history, the theatre showcased a variety of acts including big band orchestras and vaudeville shows.

Following periods of decline and closure, a significant restoration project was completed in 2021, returning the theatre to its former Art Deco glory. The renovation preserved many of the original architectural details while upgrading the venue with modern amenities.
