Quatuor Ébène, a French string quartet formed in 1999, is renowned for its interpretations of classical repertoire infused with a vibrant and expressive style. Their performances are characterized by a refined sound, technical precision, and a notable emphasis on phrasing and dynamic nuance. While rooted in the traditional string quartet literature – Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven – they also actively commission new works and explore arrangements spanning genres including jazz and tango, demonstrating a commitment to broadening the quartet’s artistic scope.
The concert will take place at Philharmonie de Paris, a major concert hall inaugurated in January 2015. Located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, it is part of a larger park complex known as Parc de la Villette. The Philharmonie de Paris is notable for its two primary halls: the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez, possessing exceptional acoustics and seating approximately 2,400 people; and the smaller Studio Erma Tréfélot. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, the building itself is considered an architectural landmark featuring an undulating wooden structure and reflective facade. It serves as the home base for the Orchestre de Paris and hosts a diverse range of musical performances throughout the year.
